The Bills Tackle team have made a great start to the Angling Times/BaitTech Supercup 2015 in their quest to reach the final for the third time.

A home draw gave them choice of venue in round one and once again they chose the Fennes Ash Grounds lake.

Like a lot of venues at present, the water has not fished consistently well, but local knowledge overcame the patchiness of the fishing and they had four section wins from Danny Mason, Reece Hearn, Dean Field and Julian Collop and two seconds from Alan Lee and Simon White.

The final result saw Bills Tackle on eight points, Harlow Angling 11 and Harlow Blue 17.

The individual result saw one from each team in the top three, led by Julian Collop with 29-10-0 from peg 56 followed by Darren Marder (Harlow Angling) with 28-12-0 on peg two and Alan Reynolds (Harlow Blue) with 26-8-0 on peg 54.

Meanwhile, Jim Loosley won the Good Friday Sweep at Notley with 3-2-8 and Pete Thompson weighed 1-7-0 for second.

Loosley also won last Friday’s Notley Sweep on the first cast, as he landed a carp of 3-8-0 and added an F1 next cast.

His final total was 5-4-0, with Keith Nash in second weighing 2-14-0.

Finally a reminder to Braintree and Bocking Angling Society members of the AGM tonight (Thursday) at the Liberal Club in Braintree.

Kelvedon members should note that there is a working party on Seabrooks on Saturday, with an 8.30am meet.
