More than 50 children enjoyed a Soccability festival at the Discovery Centre in Braintree.
Soccability is a football-themed event that embraces people with a wide range of disabilities and the day included skills challenges, coaching sessions and matches on the all-weather pitches.
Smiling faces were testament to the good time the children enjoyed.
They came from six special schools around the region, including children from Edith Borthwick school in Braintree.
The day was a partnership between the Essex Football Association, Braintree Town Football Club and local disability sport specialists, Disability 4 Sport.
Braintree District Council supported the event by the provision of their facilities free of charge.
Alan Stuckey, director at Braintree Town, said: “We are pleased to be involved with this series of Soccability events in our town.
“The enthusiasm of all the participants is infectious and we look forward to the next event on May 14.”
