Witham Running Club were very pleased to present £900 raised through the club’s own Boxing Day five mile race to the J’s Hospice and Children’s Burns Club.

The Boxing Day race was celebrating its 30th year last year and, with over 400 entrants, was another successful event.

Meanwhile, last weekend was a busy one in the race calendar with many club members taking part in races.

The club entered six teams into the Essex Road Relay race held at Harwich.

It was very windy along the sea front and there were some excellent results given the conditions.

The following day saw 23 Witham members take part in the Colchester Half-Marathon, with James Crisp and Paul Chandler both running personal bests and Scott Darney, Simon Scott and Manuel Nunez who ran their first ever races over the distance. At the Braintree five-mile race, another ten Witham club members took part.

Masroor Merzai was the first junior to finish and Mark Finbow finished eighth in just under 30 minutes for a new personal best to show that their winter training had paid off.
