Seb Murfet wants to be back at Witham Town for the remainder of the Ryman League premier division season and is hoping that he can help guide them to relegation safety in their final eight games.

The full-back had called time on his Town career before Christmas because of work commitments but has answered a call from boss Garry Kimble and assistant Brad King to return during a period of holiday.

The management duo approached him after Vinnie Durrant left the club to join Bowers and Pitsea and Murfet now wants to keep playing to help Witham get clear of the premier division’s bottom four when the season ends next month.

He said: “I’ve got a couple of weeks off work so agreed to come back, but I’m now hoping to be involved until the end of the season.

“We only have one more Tuesday night game and it’s pretty much only Saturdays after that so I can be involved with that.

“We’ll see beyond that, but I should be OK for this season. I have to say I missed it and missed being alongside all the boys, but Brad and Garry called me up last week and asked if I’d be interested in coming back in. My fitness wasn’t really there and I’ve been sore after the two games I’ve played, but it will come back.”
