Witham Town dropped back into the Ryman League premier division relegation zone with a narrow defeat at Kingstonian.

A fourth defeat from their last five games coupled with a win for AFC Hornchurch against promotion-chasing Dulwich Hamlet meant Garry Kimble’s team slipped back into the bottom four.

They had enjoyed a vital win against rivals Hornchurch seven days before, but their 2-1 loss at Kingstonian was a blow to their hopes to stay up this year.

Witham were placed on the back foot from as early as the ninth minute when Josh Casey fired the hosts into the lead, however, the advantage lasted only 15 minutes.

In the 24th minute, striker Chris Bryan got Town back on level terms and that was how the game stood at half-time.

However, late goals haven’t been kind to Witham at times this year and so it proved in this fixture as well.

With just eight minutes to go, Pelayo Pico Gomez gave Kingstonian the decisive goal that allowed them to claim the three points and leave Witham back in the drop zone.
