Simeon Akinola’s head won’t be turned by speculation linking him to a possible move into the Football League.

Some electrifying performances and goals since joining Braintree Town from Ryman League premier division side Harrow Borough at the start of the season have naturally caught the eye of those higher up the footballing pyramid in recent weeks.

But while the 22-year-old is aware that he has been the subject of interest from a number of clubs, his sole focus is on helping the Iron to as high a finish as they can achieve in the Vanarama Conference Premier this season, continuing with today’s trip to Forest Green Rovers.

He said: “I have heard about people looking at me, but I try not to let that affect me because if you start thinking about next season then that’s not right.

“There are still ten games left and I have my personal targets for those ten games.

“Regardless of what happens at the end of the season, my objective is to do the best for Braintree Town.

“My focus is totally on the pitch.”
