Legends headed to the Eagle in the Braintree Open Darts League and had a worthwhile trip as they secured an overall match win of 8-4.

A win in the ladies’ competition, a 2-1 victory in the pairs and a draw in the triples put the visitors in a strong position heading into the singles.

Wins in the opening two singles for Aaron Holden and Chris Cook gave Legends the advantage and they closed out the victory with wins for Chris Holden, Tony Tatum and Ernie Holden.

Hosts Queen’s Head and Welsh Princess drew in the ladies, but the home side claimed the triples and pairs before wins for Dave Clack, Gary Deal, Martin Brady and Mark Cook wrapped up an overall 9-3 match win.

Bocking travelled to Wethersfield A and won in the ladies’ and pairs competitions before a draw in the triples put them in a good position to seal the overall match win 8-4 with singles successes for Colin Barnard, James Kiddle, Taylor Barnard, Dave Joyce and Trevor Wells.

Wethersfield B opened with a win in the ladies at Notley, who hit back with a 3-0 pairs win and a triples draw.

Notley’s Stewart Thorogood and Graham Chinnery won their singles games but wins for Steve Sheldrake, Kevin William and Emma Totman put the visitors back in the driving seat and a win for Kim Patmore in the sixth had the singles won for Wethersfield.

However, a win for Jon Islip in the final game gave Notley the overall match win 7-5.
