Garry Kimble admitted to being left frustrated as his Witham Town team saw three Ryman League premier division points become one as they were pegged back by VCD Athletic.
With both sides looking to work their way clear of relegation danger, Kimble had said before the game that it was one his team couldn't afford to lose.
So he was pleased to see them leading through Ryan Charles' first-half strike at the Village Glass Stadium.
However, a nagging fear that they should have made more of first-half chances came beack to haunt manager Kimble and his players as the visitors from Kent hit back with an 85th minute leveller from Aaron Jeffery.
"It's frustrating," said Kimble.
“In the first half we could have scored four and put the game to bed.
“You’re always vulnerable at one nil.
“Did we have enough chances in the second half? I think we did.
“What changed it was their substitutions.
“They made three very good substitutions.
“I had been surprised they hadn’t started with (Karl) Dent and (James) Duckworth but they made a difference.
“Overall we’ve made a point but it’s disappointing - and the players know that - that we haven’t got three.”
