While Garry Kimble was disappointed for his team to miss out on midweek action, the Witham Town boss felt a week off would give his players a chance to “recharge batteries” ahead of Saturday’s trip to Grays Athletic.
Witham saw their Ryman League premier division clash against Tonbridge Angels postponed on Tuesday because the Kent side were involved in an FA Trophy replay meaning their next game was the Essex derby at Grays.
The call-off did little to help Witham’s fixture backlog, but Kimble felt the Village Glass Stadium pitch may not have recovered in time anyway after they hosted Bury Town last weekend.
He said: “To be fair, the pitch was very wet on Saturday and I’m not sure whether the game would have been on or not.
“It was very boggy, but our groundsman did ever so well in getting it on and we’re glad that we got the chance to play.
“What is disappointng is that we’ve lost an opportunity to get a game (against Tonbridge) played, but we can’t think about that.
“We have to look at it as a chance to recharge batteries and look forward to Saturday at Grays because that’s going to be a tough one."
