Knockout Cup and Plate action in the Braintree Open Darts League saw eight teams battling it out for places in the next round.

Braintree FC hosted the Retreat but found themselves 9-3 down after the first four games on their home board.

Nicky Mynard kept the Football Club’s hopes alive, but Simon Twin won the third leg of their match to take Retreat through in the cup.

A 2-1 win for Queen’s Head’s Mark Cook over Notley Sports’ George Cox in the sixth game of their cup tie gave hope to the Queen’s Head, but they still needed three legs going into the final game. However, with Mick Hyam winning the first leg of his match against Kelly Willis, Notley were through.

Cressing travelled to Wethersfield B in the Plate and a 2-1 win for Shane Smith against Emma Totman in the fifth game gave Cressing a 10-5 lead. Wethersfield’s Matt Suckling and Cressing’s Sam Hayden stepped up to the oche in the sixth but it wasn’t to be the hosts’ night as a win for Hayden saw Cressing safely into the next round.

The Plate match between the Eagle and Welsh Princess had the Welsh 8-7 to the good after the fifth game, however, a 3-0 win for Paul Little against Bruce Mawdsley followed by Steve Arnold winning his match against David Bull saw the Eagle into the next round.
