Witham Town exited the FA Trophy at the second round qualifying stage.

The lost out to a late goal to go down to a 1-0 home defeat against Truro City.

Following a pitch inspection the game went ahead and it was the visitors who made the better start.

Cody Cooke fired into the side netting before home keeper Martyn Guest was called on to make good saves from Ryan Brett and Craig Duff.

However, just before half-time, Witham created a number chances.

Ellis Brown went on a good run but his shoot went just wide and Conor Mead’s effort just went over the bar.

After the break, Witham were reduced to ten men after keeper Guest was shown a straight red card after bringing down Brett.

However, Truro failed to capitalise as Duff blasted the resultant penalty over the bar.

Witham then raised their game and went on the attack but couldn’t seem to find a way through the Truro defence.

But it was to be the visitors who took the honours on the day.

Substitute keeper Brad King, who had had a good game, could only palm a shot into the path of Duff who forced the ball over the line for the all-important winning goal.
