Witham Town bounced back from their FA Cup disappointment by booking their place in the next round of the FA Trophy with a 2-1 first qualifying round win against Royston Town.
A fourth qualifying round defeat by Weston Super Mare in the FA Cup seven days previously had been a bitter blow to Witham, so they knew a quick response was needed as they started their Trophy campaign.
So an 18th minute goal by Lewis Godbold was just the tonic as the visitors held a 1-0 lead at half-time and that was doubled after the break when Ellis Brown pounced with 16 minutes to go.
A strike by Royston's Reece Dobson in the 83rd minute meant it was a more nervy ending than they may have wanted for Witham, but they held on to triumph and place their name in the draw for the next round.
