There will be a score to be settled for Braintree Town at the Gateshead International Arena tomorrow.

The Iron head to Gateshead for a Vanarama Conference Premier fixture on the back of two draws against the top two sides in the division in the last week.

It means they will travel full of confidence and they will be looking to set the record straight from last season’s journey to the north east.

Their game at Gateshead came at the start of a congested week of travelling and saw Braintree pipped by Jonathan O’Donnell’s goal in the 90th minute as they lost a fixture they felt they should have won.

It allowed the Heed to edge Braintree out of a finish in the play-off spots and Iron full-back Sam Habergham admits they want to avenge that former visit.

He said: “Hopefully we can go up there and get a positive result because they nicked one against us late in the game up there last year.

“We should have won that game so hopefully we can go and beat them this time.

“There’s a bit of a score to settle in that regard.”

Braintree are hoping to welcome back Dan Sparkes from an ankle injury for their trip north, but their squad continues to be hit by injuries and boss Alan Devonshire may be limited in his line-up choices once again.

However, Habergham, who played his 100th game for Braintree in their 1-1 draw with leaders Barnet on Tuesday, feels it’s not something that is holding them back too much.

“I think we’re used to it to be honest,” added the Iron left-back.

“We were playing three games a week last season and we have a very fit squad so I think we’ve dealt with it very well.

“We just have to get on with it and deal with what’s in front of us with the players we’ve got.

“I think we’ve done that well so far and once all the players who are out come back fit then we’ll only be stronger.

“There’s a lot to look forward to.

“We’ve just got good draws against the sides who are first and second in the league and we perhaps could have beaten both of them, but we’ll take it forward with us.”
