The Bills Tackle team travelled to Birmingham to fish the 15-team final of the Angling Times Supercup.
They made the final last year but had a poor result and were determined to do better this year with more information on the Barston Lakes venue and their efforts certainly paid off as they finished runners-up to local team Ridgemere, who fish there on a regular basis.
The winners totalled just 23 points, while Bills Tackle tied for second place with 33, but edged ahead on a section countback as captain Danny Mason, Julian Collop and Reece Hearn all came second in their sections.
Alan Lee, Dean Field and Mark Banks completed the team that won the £500 prize which helped cover their costs. The venue has hosted three major matches in the past week and weights were lower than usual, which was a bonus for Hearn as he found himself in sixth place overall with his 66-0-0.
