The FA have confirmed that they are investigating an incident that occured during Braintree Town's 2-0 Vanarama Conference Premier game against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

An FA spokesman told the Times that they were looking into an incident that was flagged up in the match officials' report from the game.

While the exact nature of what was included in referee Daniel Cook's report hasn't been revealed it may refer to an incident that took place following the award of a first-half penalty for Braintree.

Cook decided that Braintree's Jordan Cox had been fouled as he tried to reach a cross, but a melee broke out among several players from both sides which spilled on to the side of the pitch at the Quag End of the ground.

The incident is believed to have involved Bristol Rovers supporters behind the goal.

Once play resumed, Kenny Davis scored from the penalty spot and Braintree went on to add a second goal with a strike by Dan Sparkes.
