Happy coincidence could lead to bumper crowd for the Iron

Braintree Town chairman Lee Harding is hoping that a happy coincidence may attract a bumper crowd to the Amlin Stadium tomorrow.

A tough month for the Iron starts with the visit of Bristol Rovers, who were relegated from the Football League last year and are likely to bring a big contingent of travelling fans.

With no Premier League or Championship action this weekend, tomorrow has been designated as Non-League Day when fans of clubs who don’t have a game are encouraged to take in a game lower down the football pyramid – like Braintree’s.

And Harding is hoping it will see some new faces coming to the Amlin Stadium.

He added: “It just so happens that Non-League Day coincides for us with the visit of one of the better-supported clubs in the Conference.

“I think it will be a big crowd and we look forward to welcoming them.

“It will be segregated as we’re expecting about 700 from Bristol.”
