Witham Town's unbeaten start to life in the Ryman League premier division came to an end in Kent as they were beaten 2-0 at VCD Athletic.

The opening six games of the season had seen Witham draw five and win once, while VCD, who just pipped Town to the Ryman League division one north title last year, hadn't secured a win.

However, both runs came to an end as the hosts won 2-0 with goals at either end of the game.

Nick Reeves put the hosts ahead in the fourth minute and they wrapped up the points with an 87th minute strike by Lea Dawson.

Witham will hope to bounce back when they host Wingate and Finchley at the Village Glass Stadium on Tuesday.
