Charlie Strutton says he doesn’t want to go out on loan from Braintree Town to build fitness once he returns to action.

The 25-year-old is hoping that he’ll get the go-ahead to return to full team training next week after spending nine months on the sidelines after breaking his leg while on loan at Aldershot from AFC Wimbledon last season.

Having joined Braintree in a permanent deal during the summer, Strutton is desperate to get back to playing and feels a return is getting close, but a loan move away from the Amlin Stadium isn’t in his plans.

He said: “I’m going to St George’s Park this week to train up there as part of my rehabilitation and when I get back from there I don’t think it will be too long before I’m back in full training and then playing again.

“I’ve been doing a lot of fitness work with short, sharp work.

“I’m not in full training as of yet, but I have been doing bits and pieces alongside the other boys and hopefully by the end of next week I’ll be back training then."
