Summary

  • We're at the Amlin Stadium as Braintree Town welcome Nuneaton in the Vanarama Conference Premier looking to bounce back from defeats by Chester and Lincoln

4:51pm

That's it here and Braiintree have won 2-0

4:46pm

Four minutes to be added at th end

4:45pm

No-one closes substitute Bakare down and he fires in from the edge of the box for a 2-0 lead with five minutes to go.

That's the first goal this season by one of Braintree's strikers.

4:44pm

GOAL Michael Bakare makes it 2-0 to Braintree

4:39pm

Substitution as Chex Isaac comes off and is replaced by Steve Smith for Braintree

4:39pm

Substitution as Jack Dyer replaces Gareth Dean for Nuneaton

4:36pm

Free kick from edge of the box is bent low around the wall by Brundle and into the goal for a deserved opener for Braintree.

4:35pm

GOAL Mitch Brundle in the 76th min

4:34pm

Sub as Sean Marks on for Dan Walker 75 mins and Jordan Cox off as Bakare comes on

4:32pm

Can Braintree do better against ten men than they managed at Lincoln on Saturday?

Still waiting for Braintree subs though.

4:30pm

Ben Hutchinson gets straight red for flying tackle on Ryan Peters and Braintree will face ten men for the second game in a row

4:29pm

Red card Nuneaton down to ten men

4:26pm

Looks like double change for Braintree with both Bakare and Marks getting ready on the bench.

4:21pm

Jordan Cox has been cautioned after kicking the ball away after being given offside and now James Armson gets a yellow for a foul on Dan Sparkes.

4:15pm

If anything, Braintree have stayed on top, but clear-cut chances have been rare.

4:14pm

It's been quiet so far at the start of the second half

4:14pm

Substitution for Nuneaton Jorrin John off and Tyrell Waite on after 55 mins

4:04pm

Back under way here

3:47pm

Iron will probably feel they should be at least one ahead and maybe by two or three as they've had by far the better of the play, but Armson's long-range shot shows they have to stay alert at the other end.

3:46pm

Half-time to end an eventful 45 minutes and it's 0-0.

3:44pm

One extra minute added.

3:39pm

Long range shot by James Armson has Nick Hamann having to pull off great save to keep the effort out.

That was going in the top corner from about 35 yards if Hamann hadn't got there.

3:36pm

Nuneaton have now gone seven hours without scoring a goal!

They haven't looked too likely to break that here and it's Braintree staying on top but so far no breakthrough with eight minutes to go until the break.

3:34pm

I've just heard it said that this is reminiscent of the Chester game!!

SO many Braintree chances and not enough made of them - Iron fans will be hoping the second half doesn't follow the same pattern!

3:31pm

Drama as Nuneaton keeper Charles-Cook makes trio of saves.

First from thunderbolt by Mitch Brundle that he parried, then a double save from onrushing Dan Sparkes and then Jordan Cox when a goal looked certain.

3:26pm

28 minutes, Dan Walker races clear but shot is just wide under pressure from Geohaghan.

3:23pm

Great cross from Dan Walker is headed over by Mitch Brundle from a great position.

23 minutes gone and 0-0 but Braintree are well on top at the moment

3:22pm

Lung-busting run by Ryan Peters carries him right into the heart of the Nuneaton defence as the back line opens up in front of him.

He gets to the byline but his low cross is scrambled clear.

3:16pm

The ball is running truly, but there are quite a few puddles throwing water up all over the pitch.

It's very tricky out there today as the rain is still lashing down.

3:14pm

Jordan Cox charges forward on goal from a long punt forward. He does well to hold off Geohaghan, but the Nuneaton defender just manages to get a boot in to deny the shot when it comes.

3:06pm

Dan Walker breaks from Ryan Peters' superb ball forward and goed round Nuneaton keeper Reice Charles-Cook but Delroy Gordon is able to scramble back and clear it off the line

3:04pm

Rain is really coming down now and shows no signs of abating.

3:04pm

It's as suspected formation-wise for Braintree with Brundle in front of the back four in the role that Matt Paine has filled so well in recent years.

Alan Devonshire obviously feels his defence have been missing the protection that Paine has afforded them.

Brundle played that role in pre-season and it's working so far as it's 0-0 after six minutes.

3:00pm

We start here at the Amlin Stadium with Braintree shooting towards the Quag End.

2:56pm

Looks like it may be a smallish crowd here considering it's a Bank Holiday fixture, but I expect the rain has kept a fair few away.

2:55pm

From Braintree's line up it would suggest that Mitch Brundle may play a holding midfield role in front of a back for of Peters, Habergham, Massey and Clerima.

Brundle would be in midfield along with Davis, Isaac and Sparkes with Walker and Cox up front.

We'll see for sure in about five minutes!!

2:52pm

Nuneaton start the game with Reice Charles-Cook, Connor Franklin, Exodus Geohaghan, Gareth Dean, Delroy Gordon, Adam Walker, James Armson, Jorrin John, Ben Hutchinson, Ryan Smith, Theo Streete. Subs are James WRen, Tyrell Waite, Jack Dyer, Magno Vieira and Ryan Quinn.

2:51pm

Dan Walker is back in Braintree's starting line-up and Remy Clerima also starts for the Iron.

2:49pm

James Mulley is injured for today's game so drops out, while Michael Bakare starts on the bench so that means there are two changes for the Iron from the side that lost 3-2 at Lincoln on Saturday.

2:46pm

Subs for Braintree today are Sean Marks, Michael Bakare, Joe Maybanks, Steve Smith and Carl Pentney.

2:46pm

Braintree Town line up with Nick Hamann, Mitch Brundle, Sam Habergham, Chez Isaac, Alan Massey, Dan Walker, Kenny Davis, Dan Sparkes, Jordan Cox, Remy Clerima, Ryan Peters.
