Coggeshall Cricket Club are ready for their top-of-the-table clash with Frinton as the leading lights in the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship go head-to-head at Harefield tomorrow.

It will be a fitting way to kick-start the club’s annual Cricket Week, that will include Essex seconds entertaining Northampton seconds for a three-day championship game starting on Tuesday and a one-day game between the two on July 25.

But the club’s focus is very much on the weekend at the moment.

Coggeshall are still the division one leaders after their eight-wicket win against Lakenheath, while Frinton are second and level on points and skipper George Blackwell knows the title hopes of whoever wins Saturday’s game will get a big boost.

He said: “It’s a massive game.

“Who wins it won’t necessarily win the league, but it will give them an advantage.

“We were disappointed to lose against them at their place, but we’re at home this time. It looks like we are going to be at full strength and hopefully we’ll see a good crowd there to get some home support."
