Former Braintree Town striker Dan Holman has joined League One side Colchester United on a two-year deal.
The 24-year-old had not accepted an offer of re-engagement from the Iron at the end of last season and had been training with Southend United last week, but has impressed U's boss Joe Dunne.
Dunne watched Holman on a number of occasions last year when he scored 13 goals for Braintree in becoming their top scorer in the Football Conference Premier.
Holman joined Braintree in August 2012 from Histon and scored 24 goals in 72 appearances for the Iron.
More on this story and full reaction in this week's paper.
