Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire has got the striker that he said he wanted and also secured the services of one a key member of last season's squad.

The Iron boss has signed Dan Walker after he left Hereford United at the end of last year while Dan Sparkes has returned for a third season at the Amlin Stadium.

Walker, who is 24, makes a return to the club after spending a brief spell with Braintree on loan from Luton Town at the start of 2013, when he made four appearances.

He was with Hereford last year and made 44 appearances for them, scoring three goals - two of which were against Braintree.

Sparkes, meanwhile, is back after an impressive time last year.

There had been fears that he may not return for a third season with the Iron, but the club have confirmed that the 22-year-old will be back for the 2014/15 Conference Premier campaign.
