One man stood head and shoulders above the rest as Braintree and District Motorcycle Club hosted the annual Jack Hubbard Trophy motocross at Hatches Farm in Stisted.

With three times winner Sydney Bales away with other commitments, the field was wide open this year in an MX1 class headed by expert riders from across and beyond the Eastern Centre.

But Jason Morland was a class apart as he regained the Jack Hubbard Trophy with apparent ease, five years after his 2009 win.

The 30-year-old Silver End rider was untouchable in this big bike class, run over 11 gruelling one-mile laps of rentless bumps and cambers.

He said: “I seem to be in some decent form at the moment and fingers crossed it continues."
