Witham Cricket Club captain Leroy Facey is calling on his players to sharpen up their games.
Facey was disappointed in the way that his team lost their fifth Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division one game of the season as they were beaten by 15 runs by Hadleigh.
Despite a century by Richard Green, Witham were unable to chase down the visitors’ total of 253 for four.
The loss means they have won just one of their six games this year, but rather than it being Witham getting outplayed, Facey said their latest loss – like the other four before it – was down to their own mistakes.
“Our fielding cost us again,” he said.
“It has been average so far and it was dreadful on Saturday.
“I’d say it cost us about 40 runs.
“We must have dropped four catches and it was just generally sloppy and very pedestrian and for the level that we’re playing at, that isn’t good enough."
