Despite his team leading the way into the final game of the Ryman League division one north season, Witham Town manager Garry Kimble doesn’t feel his team wear the favourites tag in the race for the title.
Following Easter Monday’s 4-1 win against Wroxham, Witham head into the last game with a one-point lead over second-placed VCD Athletic.
But with Witham facing a trip to Cheshunt tomorrow and their Kent rivals having a home fixture against Romford, Kimble feels the advantage lies with VCD.
He said: “I think VCD are favourites still as they have home advantage.
“Form goes out of the window in a situation like this and it will come down to who ever wants it on the day.
“If they win, we have to win.
“I know it’s in our hands and we’re the ones holding top spot, but VCD are the favourites because they are at home and that’s a real advantage.”
Kimble said he will be without the suspended duo of Paul King and John Watson, but Luke Olley returns from a ban and the Town boss was also hopeful that Danny Emmanuel would be fit after taking a knock on his ankle against Wroxham.
