Brantree Town striker Sean Marks won’t mind warming the bench when Dartford visit the Amlin Stadium today if the Iron can continue pushing for a top-five finish in the Skrill Premier.

Marks returns from a three match suspension – for a red card received for an off-the-ball incident during their defeat by Salisbury two weeks ago – for the visit of the Kent side.

But during his time on the sidelines, Marks has seen the team pick up four valuable points, including three at new Conference champions Luton last weekend, to stay in the race for the play-offs.

And if boss Alan Devonshire sticking with the strike partnership of Jordan Cox and Dan Holman proves fruitful, then Marks will have no complaints if he’s not in the starting line-up.

He said: “I shouldn’t have got involved in that game against Salisbury but I did.

“It happens at all levels of football and frustration just boiled over on the day.

“But the boys have dug me out of the hole and they’ve kept us in there.

“I can’t wait to get back, though.

“It has been a bit of a rest ahead of a couple of important games and I’ve only missed a week and a bit, but the boys have been playing so well, it doesn’t give me any right to come back in.

“To be fair, though, I’m more than happy to bide my time if we’re doing OK and Jordan and Dan are playing well."
