Kimble: It's in our hands now

Braintree and Witham Times: Kimble: It's in our hands now Kimble: It's in our hands now

Garry Kimble says his Witham Town players will only have themselves to blame if they fail to win the Ryman League division one north title now.

Witham moved above VCD Athletic to the top of the pile with two late goals in a 2-1 win against Chatham Town on Wednesday and know three wins from their final three games will see them crowned as champions for a historic move into the premier division.

That trio of games starts tomorrow at local rivals Heybridge Swifts and Witham manager Kimble expects his players to rise to the challenge.

He said: “It’s in our hands now and if they blow it from here, they will only have themselves to blame.

“Being top makes a big difference as VCD are now the ones with all the pressure on them.

“They have to win all their games and hope we mess up, but if we win all our three, we win the title – it’s as simple as that.

“It’s down to our players now.

“I can only do so much and the players are the ones who have to go out there and want to win it.

“If they can’t get themselves up to face Heybridge then there’s something very wrong.”

However, Swifts are going for a spot in the play-offs and with so much at stake themselves, won’t make it easy for their local rivals.

Swifts boss Jody Brown said: “I think it will be a great day and I am sure both sets of fans and players are eagerly awaiting the match.

“However, I won’t approach the game any different to any other.

“I am not going to say it is just another game, because it isn’t, there’s a lot at stake for both clubs.

“I will try and do my homework on Witham and pick the right personnel for the job.

“We will prepare for it as we usually do.”
