Braintree Rugby Club are sizing up a big finish to their season as they look to preserve their London League division two north east status.

The Black and Ambers have their final home game of the campaign tomorrow when leaders Ipswich will visit Robbs Wood (kick-off 3pm).

The Suffolk side will arrive on the back of a a six-game winning run and an 80-5 win at Basildon last weekend and will face a Braintree side that hasn’t won in its last five outings.

The hosts, who are third from bottom in the division two north east table, are under no illusions how big their task is and face a trip to third-placed Rochford the week after.

However, once those two games are out of the way, they will finish their season with back-to-back outings to the two sides below them in the standings and know that these fixtures could decide where they will play their rugby next year.

First-team manager Steve Tame said: “We are going to have a sit-down meeting with the players to lay out what the situation is.

“I’m sure they are fully-aware already of the challenge ahead, but it will be good to talk to them about it."
