Witham Town moved their Ryman League division one north title dreams a significant step further forward with a 5-1 win against AFC Sudbury at the Village Glass Stadium.

Having struggled to overcome Erith and Belvedere on Saturday, Witham turned on the style to cruise past Sudbury and they are now five points behind leaders VCD Athletic with two games in hand.

Witham took the lead early on when Luke Olley found the back of the net in the 14th minute and after James Stevens scored his 16th goal of the season in the 30th minute, it was 2-0 to the hosts at half-time.

The visitors had no answers after the break either.

Kris Newby was on target twice either side of a goal by Dean Green to put Witham 5-0 ahead before a late penalty strike by James Baker proved to be only a consolation for Sudbury.

It meant Witham are still unbeaten at home in the league this year and they will look to extend that further when Waltham Abbey are the visitors on Thursday.
