NOW: Pensions Men’s Masters Over-40s Trophy
Witham Hockey Club’s over-40s booked their place in the quarter-finals with a high-scoring win against Folkestone.
Having recently beaten a fellow Essex side to make the last 16 of this England Hockey national competition, Witham were against an unknown quantity in Folkestone and the hottest day of the year so far was also not ideal for the players.
However, Witham had home advantage and also 15 players compared to the Kent side’s bare 11, which proved a telling factor in the sun.
