While he was disappointed to see Witham Town's unbeaten run ended by a 3-0 defeat at Thurrock, assistant manager Brad King paid tribute to their opponents.

Last night's loss ended a six-game unbeaten run in Ryman League division one north for Witham and put a dent in their title hopes, but King acknowledged that Thurrock were too strong on the night.

He said: “We were disappointed with the manner of the defeat, but credit to Thurrock as they fully deserved the three points.

“They had a little bit more experience than we did on the night and that told.

“We did not start brilliantly and conceded three poor goals, but other than that, I don’t think they had too many clear-cut chances.

“The difference was, they had three chances and scored three clinical goals and it was uphill from there."

Witham will be looking to bounce back quickly when they host Barkingside at the Village Glass Stadium on Thursday (kick-off 7.45pm).
