Witham Town chairman Tony Last admits the club are “really struggling” financially due to having games called off, but insists there will be no cuts to the playing budget.
The postponement of Tuesday’s home game against Harlow Town was the tenth time this season that Last had had to rearrange a Ryman League division one north game.
Like for last weekend’s game against Waltham Abbey, the Village Glass Stadium pitch was too waterlogged for the game against the Hawks to go ahead and Witham are hoping they have better fortune when they host Romford tomorrow (kick-off 3pm).
But the high number of call-offs already have hit the club’s finances.
They have a Race Night planned in the clubhouse after Saturday’s game to raise funds, but Last admitted a lack of matchday action means the club’s income has suffered significantly.
He said: “We have the Race Night planned, but we are really struggling. “However, we won’t be cutting the (playing) budget or anything like that.
“We set that at the beginning of the year and it won’t be cut.”
