Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire admits his team’s fixture backlog mean their Skrill Premier play-off chances could have “gone out the window” for this year.
The Iron boss said the pile-up of games and the demands that will be placed on his squad are far worse than last season when fixtures were postponed due to a waterlogged Amlin Stadium pitch and had to be rearranged to leave them with up to four games a week during the latter stages of the campaign.
They are hoping for better fortune when Wrexham visit tomorrow (kick-off 3pm).
But this year, the problem has been exacerbated by away games being called-off as well and Braintree have now played four less than they had at the same point in the 2012/13 season.
Devonshire said: “It’s very disappointing and frustrating, but what can you do?"
