The heavy rain that has swept across the UK in the latter part of Friday has left both Braintree Town and Witham Town with no games this weekend.

Braintree had been due to travel to Southport in the Skrill Premier on Saturday, while Witham were scheduled to host Chatham Town in a Ryman League division one north game.

However, waterlogged pitches at Southport's Haig Avenue ground and at the Village Glass Stadium in Witham mean there will be no action at either venue.

Pitch inspections on Friday afternoon showed both playing surfaces would be too wet for any play to go ahead on Saturday.

The call-offs mean Braintree's next scheduled game is an Essex Senior Cup semi-final at AFC Hornchurch on Tuesday, while Witham are due to be hosting Redbridge in division one north, also on Tuesday.
