Witham Hockey Club's men continued their fine form with another win that has now grown to a run of eight wins on the trot, but they know they will have to up their game from this performance to extend that further.

Although their 5-3 win against Upminster seconds wasn’t a vintage performance, it was the first time this year that Witham had to come back from a losing position and the fighting spirit of the team showed through.

However, over the next seven games, Witham will entertain every team in the top half of the table and know promotion is still a long way off and with some huge games coming up Witham will have to up their game from Saturday.

Man-of-the-match Andy Holm said: “It was a fighting performance and it was great to get another three points.

“The games will continue to get harder which we are more than happy with as we seem to raise our game against the better opposition so we are looking forward to the next month.”

Witham travel to Redbridge and Ilford on Saturday keen to continue their promotion push.
