Braintree and Witham Times: Harding: there was nothing more we could do Harding: there was nothing more we could do

Braintree Town chairman Lee Harding said the club could do nothing more than it had to get their Skrill Premier game played against Cambridge United tonight.

Wet weather and a waterlogged Amlin Stadium pitch has defeated the efforts of a team of groundstaff at the Iron as they battled against the elements.

It was the second time that attempts to get the game played have been thwarted by the damp conditions.

Harding said: “We had about four or five people constantly working on it and we did all we could.

“The lads were working really hard to get the pitch playable and they had the surface water cleared, but more rain came down and it looked as if they had never been on it.

“It’s frustrating but it’s the weather and there’s nothing more that we could do.”

The game against Cambridge has been rescheduled to be played on January 14, but that will be dependent on whether the U’s are in FA Trophy action that night or not.
