Witham Town manager Garry Kimble wants his players to stay professional in their build-up to this weekend’s Ryman League division one north trip to Erith and Belvedere.

Because Erith share a ground with Welling United, who have a Skrill Premier game against Nuneaton on Saturday, Witham’s visit won’t take place until Sunday (kick-off 3pm).

Witham’s players have offered to pay for their fans to get into the ground, but Kimble is asking them to prepare for it as they would for a game with a usual Saturday kick-off.

He said: “I would hope that they treat it the same as if they were playing normally and I hope none of them decide to go out on Saturday night, but I can’t watch over them 24 hours a day.

“I just have to trust them.

“They have done wonders for me so far and we are third in the table with four games in hand over some of the sides around us.

“I’d always rather have the points in the bag than games in hand, but we’re in a good position.”

Kimble said Sam Taylor would probably miss the trip to Erith and Belvedere due to a back problem, while Craig Emery, who has a foot injury anyway, will miss the game through suspension.
