Witham boss wants his players to be quick out of the blocks
Garry Kimble is warning his Witham Town players against the perils of being slow starters when they return to FA Trophy action tomorrow.
St Albans City will be the visitors to the Village Glass Stadium for a first qualifying round tie (kick-off 3pm), but Kimble knows his team “can’t be too cautious” against a side that play in the Calor Southern League premier division.
That is the same level that Hemel Hempstead, who Witham came close to knocking out of the FA Cup two weeks ago, play at and Kimble knows his players have to approach the Trophy game in the same way.
He said: “I’m expecting the same sort of test that Hemel Hempstead gave us.
“But we have home advantage and there should be no fear from our players.
“It is how we approach it that’s important.
“We can’t be too cautious and we just have to play our game and see where it takes us.”
Kimble said defender Paul King is likely to be back on Saturday after recovering from a gash to his head, but midfielder Sam Taylor could still be struggling with a back injury.
