Harding not worried over waterlogged pitch
Braintree Town chairman Lee Harding has said there are no worries over the Amlin Stadium pitch after waterlogging caused a game to be postponed this week.
The Thurlow Nunn League division one game between Braintree Town Reserves and Haverhill Borough was postponed on Wednesday due to a wet surface.
The club saw a number of games called-off last season because of a soggy pitch and invested in new drainage work last summer, but Harding said the latest postponement shouldn’t be a reason for concern.
He said: “It was freak weather with the amount of rain coming down on Wednesday afternoon, so we’re not worried about it.
“It did come down very heavily and what we are finding is that after heavy rain, give it an hour or two and it will be OK, but the referee felt it wasn’t playable at the time he had a look at it.”
Braintree’s first team are due to face Chester in the Skrill Premier at home on Saturday, while the reserves do not have a game this weekend.
