Witham stay unbeaten as they draw 0-0 with Needham Market

Ryman League division one north
Witham Town continued their unbeaten start to the Ryman League division one north season with a goalless draw against Needham Market.
It was a game that promised much in an entertaining first half, but it became scrappy after the break and neither side was able to get the breakthrough needed.
And that meant Needham became only the second team to take a point off Witham so far this season.
The first half ended goalless, but it certainly wasn't devoid of entertainment.
Both teams were intent on playing an attractive brand of football and made full use of the pristine Village Glass Stadium pitch.
It was a very open game that flowed from end to end and was a good advert for Ryman League football when some may have opted to stay at home and watch England's World Cup qualifier from the Ukraine.
However, clear-cut chances were at a premium in the early stages and shots on goal tended to come from distance as the well-organised defences stayed on top.
It was Witham who came out with more intent after the break, though, and they forced Needham on to the back foot.
Needham keeper Andrew Plummer had to make a fingertip save to deny Jamar Dobson on 50 minutes and James Stevens went inches wide with a drilled effort just after.
But the game suddenly became scrappy with frequent use of the referee's whistle that prevented the same flow that the crowd of 63 had seen in the first half.
And it remained that way until the end as neither side could really carve out an advantage.
Witham's next action will now come with a home game on Saturday as they entertain Mildenhall Town in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup.
BT Sport television cameras are due to be at the Village Glass Stadium to cover the game.
