Away day wins for Braintree and Witham
There were wins on the road for both Braintree Town and Witham Town on a soggy afternoon.
Braintree crossed the Thames and enjoyed a 2-0 win at Dartford in the Skrill Premier, while Witham hammered Barkingside 6-0 in Ryman League division one north.
The win took Witham to the summit of the fledgling division one north table and they are yet to be beaten in any of their opening five games.
Both Braintree's goals came in the second half, with centre-half Alan Massey heading in the opener from a cross by Kenny Davis, before Liam Enver-Marum made the points safe with his first strike for the club.
The win was Braintree's second of the season and took them to seventh in the Skrill Premier table.
It was also a productive away day for Witham Town as they continued their unbeaten start to the season in division one north of the Ryman League.
Sam Taylor's first goal gave Garry Kimble's team a 1-0 advantage at half-time and a deluge of rain couldn't stop them adding another five after the break.
Taylor struck twice more to seal his hat-trick, while there were also goals for Rob Whitnell, Jamar Dobson and Tom Wraight.
Both teams will now turn their attentions to home games on Bank Holiday Monday.
Braintree host Barnet at the Amlin Stadium and Witham entertain Soham Town Rangers.
Both games kick-off at 3pm.
