BRAINTREE Town secured victory in the Skrill premier with a 2-0 win against Woking.
Two goals in two minutes saw Alan Devonshire’s side take control of the match in the first half on Tuesday night.
In the 16th minute, Braintree took the lead when sloppy defending allowed a Kenny Davies corner to find its way to Daniel Holman who made no mistake and fired a right-foot shot home.
Two minutes later, Sean Marks headed the ball against the bar, from a Matt Paine cross, but then reacted quickest to put the rebound in the back of the net.
Soon after Holman had a chance to make it 3-0 but his shot went just wide.
Braintree keeper Nathan McDonald gathered safely on 30 minutes when a difficult ball was crossed into the area.
On 40 minutes, Woking went close when Joe McNerney headed a free-kick onto the top of the Braintree bar.
Just before half-time, the Iron’s Sean Marks blazed over the bar.
Woking had an opportunity to pull a goal back on 73 minutes when Josh Payne’s effort hit the post.
Braintree’s Marks then had a chance from a Kenny Davis free-kick but his header went past the upright.
With three minutes left Woking substitute Anthony McNamee flashed a shot that just went wide to set Iron nerves jangling.
But with time running out Woking pressed the self-destruct button when Giuseppe Sole was given a straight red card for kicking out at Davis.
And Braintree made sure of another three points as Woking could make no further impression on the game.
