Braintree Town may bring new loanee Alex Woodyard straight into their squad as they look for a fifth Blue Square Bet Premier win in a row tonight.

The 20-year-old has joined the Iron on a month-long deal from Southend United ahead of tonight’s home game against Woking.

The Shrimpers’ midfielder has made 12 appearances for them this season, with his last outing coming in a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy fixture against Leyton Orient last month.

And with Iron midfield duo Luke Daley and James Mulley picking up knocks in their 3-1 win at Stockport County on Saturday, there is a chance Woodyard may come straight into the squad.

Boss Alan Devonshire said: “I’m hoping that he will be in place to be available tomorrow.

“He’s 20, has played first-team football a few times and can play in the midfield or also at right-back so will be useful to have.

“Luke Daley got a knock on his knee and James Mulley had a bit of a dead leg after the game at Stockport, so we’ll have to check on them and see how they are.”

The game is the first of four back-to-back home games for Braintree in the space of just eight days and three points tonight would see them reach the 50-point target Devonshire feels will guarantee their survival this year.
