Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire says he will be recalling striker Jordan Cox from a loan spell at Aveley as the Iron prepare to face Luton Town at the Amlin Stadium tonight.

Following Braintree’s 2-0 win against Grimsby Town last Tuesday, it will be another chance for the Iron to test themselves against a side chasing promotion from the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Devonshire will be without the services of Dan Walker, who has returned to his parent club Luton, after a month-long loan spell at the Amlin Stadium and has recalled Cox, who has been on loan at Ryman One North side Aveley after joining Braintree last summer.

The Iron boss said Cox would start on the bench, but had no fresh injury concerns ahead of the game.

Goalkeeper Danny Naisbitt is still about a week away from being fit after an ankle problem, though, and Bradley Quinton is continuing his comeback from knee surgery.

The Hatters have fallen off the pace in recent weeks, are in the midst of a managerial change after the departure of former Colchester United midfielder Paul Buckle and lost 3-2 to Braintree at home earlier in the season, but Devonshire is still wary of their threat.

He said: “It’s a big game in front of a big crowd and we’ll have to make sure we do the same things we did against Grimsby.

“We have to play at the same high level as we did then, but it’s going to be a test.”
