Early call to postpone Braintree's game against Southport

Braintree Town's Blue Square Bet Premier game against Southport has been postponed because of a waterlogged Amlin Stadium pitch.

The Iron had been due to play Southport on Saturday, but the game was called-off on Friday afternoon following a pitch inspection.

An early decision was made to prevent the visitors from travelling with little hope that standing water would have drained in time for the kick-off.

A re-arranged date for the game is still to be announced and Braintree's next game is now their home fixture against Grimsby Town on Tuesday.
