Braintree Town paid the price for not making more of the chances they created in their Blue Square Bet Premier encounter with Hereford United at the Amlin Stadium.

Goals by Chris Sharp and Marley watkins either side of half-time saw the Bulls win 2-0 to extend their own unbeaten run to six games and deny Braintree a third win in a row.

It was a sluggish opening 45 minutes by the hosts, but they were much-improved after the break and created numerous chances in front of the Bulls' goal.

However, unlike recent games - they had scored at least three goals in three of their last four outings - the Iron were unable to convert any on this occasion.

Boss Alan Devonshire said: “First half we didn’t play that well, but we were a lot better in the second half and I thought we deserved something out of the game.

“We didn’t get a lot of luck in front of goal.

“We had a few chances and hit the bar and if we had got one then I think we might have got another, but credit to Hereford as they defended well and put bodies on the line in the second half."
