Braintree's game gets frozen out
7:48pm Thursday 17th January 2013 in Sport By Simon Spurgeon
Braintree Town have confirmed that Friday's Blue Square Bet Premier fixture against Grimsby Town has been postponed due to snow and frost on the Amlin Stadium pitch.
Following a pitch inspection on Thursday evening, Iron chairman Lee Harding posted on the club's fans' internet messageboard to confirm that the game would not go ahead.
A heavy blanket of snow still on the playing surface along with sub-zero temperatures and further snowfall forecast in the lead-up to the game meant the game had to be postponed.
It means Braintree's next scheduled fixture will be their league game at Dartford on Tuesday.
