Braintree Town have announced that they will be holding a pitch inspection at the Amlin Stadium at 5.30pm today ahead of their game against Grimsby Town that is supposed to be played on Friday.
With snow and ice covering much of the playing surface at Cressing Road, further freezing temperatures expected over the next 48 hours and snow forecast for tomorrow, there are big doubts that the game will go ahead.
So the club have arranged for an early inspection later today.
The game is due to be screened live on satellite television channel Premier Sports and Braintree chairman Lee Harding said: "We're disappointed because we were looking forward to welcoming both Premier Sports TV and our friends from Grimsby, but the weather has caused us problems once again.
"I always like to give ourselves every chance to get a pitch playable, but the extreme cold together with the forecast of snow suggests we're very unlikely to play."
