Another washout for Braintree's FA Trophy hopes
Braintree Town's FA Trophy first round clash with Havant and Waterlooville has fallen foul of a waterlogged Amlin Stadium pitch for a second time.
Having seen Saturday's game postponed because of the soggy Braintree playing surface, the game had been rearranged to be played tonight (Tuesday).
However, subsequent rainfall has meant the water hasn't had a chance to drain away and a pitch inspection on Monday evening deemed that it would still be unfit for play ahead of the scheduled kick-off.
The game has now been re-arranged for a second time and will be played at the Amlin Stadium on Tuesday, December 4, which will lead to the postponement of that evening's scheduled Blue Square Bet Premier match at home against Forest Green Rovers.
The latest two call-offs follow postponements of a league game against Wrexham and an FA Cup tie against Tranmere Rovers in the last month, both because of waterlogging of the pitch at Braintree's home.
They also mean Alan Devonshire's team will go into the game against Havant and Waterlooville without having had a competitive fixture for two whole weeks as they do not have a game scheduled for this coming weekend due to their exit from the FA Cup.
