Witham Town will be looking to continue their excellent recent form in Ryman League division one north when they entertain high-flying Aveley at Spa Road on Saturday.

Having struggled to find consistent form in the early part of the season, Witham have made changes to the way they play in recent weeks and that has been paying dividends with four wins from their last five league games.

A lot of that has been built on increased solidity at the back with just three goals conceded in those four games and manager Garry Kimble feels the defensive work they have done in training is paying dividends.

He said: “The difference is that we’ve gone back to basics.

"We’ve been doing a lot more defending work on the training pitch and I’ve been taking sessions with the back four.

“They’ve responded magnificently and they’re putting their bodies on the line for this club now.

“The forwards and midfield are working hard as well, though, and everyone is working together.

“We looked like 11 individials before, but we are now a strong collective unit.

“There’s no ‘I’ in team and I think the lads have bought into that.”
